Welcome to my classroom page! My name is Jennifer Fleming. Currently, I am a resource teacher in the fourth grade teaching reading interventions. I have been teaching in the field of special education since 2006. My teaching experience has been in fourth and fifth grade. I graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in regular education and special education. Furthermore, I have obtained a Rank I in the field of education.
Maysville is not my native town. I grew up in the eastern part of Kentucky - Letcher County (home of the Appalachian Mountains). My job offer brought me to Maysville many years ago. I have six nephews and two nieces. Many of you may know my husband Joe Fleming. He is a computer technician for the Mason County School System. We have one beautiful daughter.
Many avenues have opened my heart to the teaching of special education including a cousin who was institutionalized as a young boy. My family helped to get him out of an institution. We worked very hard to teach him the independent skills he needed to be able to function in society. As a young girl, I worked with him at nights to teach him to read. I remember thinking how horrible it must have been for him to not be able to receive an education. From that experience, I devoted myself to fight for the rights of individuals with special needs.
