MCTC Driver's Education Class

MCTC will be having a driver's education class from on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, May 21st through the 23rd. For more information about the class, please call the number 759-7141 ext. 66120.

FAFSA Help

Any senior who has not completed their FAFSA yet, should schedule an appointment with Amy Marvin on April 25th. Ms. Marvin can help you get your form completed easily. Call the high school to schedule an appointment.

Prom

Prom will be on Saturday, April 28th. In order to attend prom, you can not have 6 or more unexcused abscenses.

Student Government

Any freshman, sophomore, or junior interested in Student Government can find the sign up sheets in the front office. Forms are due back by next Friday, April 20th.

TSA Chili Supper

The Technology Student Association will be having a chili super at MCHS on April 14, 2018.  

Cheerleading Tryouts

Cheerleading tyouts for the 2018-19 season will be on July 16th and 17th from 8-10:30 a.m. at MCIS. Open gym for tryouts will begin on May 22nd. If you are interested in cheerleading, please see Mrs. Appleman in room 215 to pick up a tryout packet. You must have a current physical to participate.

Chalk the Walk Event

MCHS will be participating in the 2nd annual Chalk the Walk event to support the Women's Crisis Center; also, to promote sexual abuse awarenes and prevention month. Students interested in participating should meet Mrs. Prater in the office lobby tomorrow, Wednesday, April 11th, at 3:30 p.m. and plan to leave at 4:00. This is an excellent service opportunity for the Royal Diploma. See Mrs. Prater with questions.

The ACT test day for juniors will be on Tuesday, April 24th.

"The Little Mermaid"

The Mason County Choir and Orchestra will be performing "The Little Mermaid" on April 20th, 21st, and 22nd. See Mr. Hunter or a student from the choir or orchestra for details on when to get tickets: they are $15 each. Times for the performance are as follows:

Seniors Interested in MCTC Nursing Program

Any senior interested in the MCTC nursing program, please see Mrs. Stuart to sign up to schedule a meet and greet at MCTC.

Prom Tickets

Prom tickets will be on sale in the office conference room from 7:30-8:00 before school and 3:00 to 3:30 after school. Tickets are $25 for a person, $50 per couple.

Lady Royals Softball Team Pancake Breakfast

The Mason County Lady Royals softball team will be having a pancake breakfast this Saturday, March 24th from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the local Applebee's. You can also get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny for free! You can take your own pictures or we can take it and send it to you! Tickets for the pancake breakfast cost $8.00 and are available at the door. Come support the Lady Royals Softball Team!

Yard Signs

Anyone who has yard signs that are no longer of use, please give them to Mrs. Martinez at MCHS so the Art Department can recycle them as material.

Girl's Basketball

Any girl interested in playing basketball next season need to see Coach Cox for a spring workout calender.

Science Olympiads and Environthon Teams

There is a mandatory Science Olympiad and Environthon team meeting this Wednesday, March 21st from 3 to 4 p.m. in Mrs. Garrison's room.

Football

Varsity football equipment handout will be after school everyday this week until 4 p.m. Spring practice starts Monday, March 19th at 3:30 p.m.

Future NKU Students

Seniors planning to attend Northern Kentucky University will meet with a representative from NKU in the Rewards Room at 10:30 on Wednesday, March 7th.

There will be a forum on the school levy at 6:00 p.m. at the MC Area Technology Center on Thursday, March 8th.

Blood Drive

You can sign up for the blood any day through this Wednesday, March 7th, at lunch. The blood drive will be next Monday, March 12th.

Come support the Lady Royals in their regional semifinal matchup vs Scott High! The game is this Friday, March 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. Any MCHS student who comes to participate with the student section will get free pizza and drinks before the game!

Mason Co. Royals Football Share Night

On Wednesday, February 28th, the Mason County football team will be having a share night. It will be at the Hardee's in Maysville. 20% of all dine-ins, carry-outs, and drive thru purchases between 5 and 9 p.m. will be donated to the football team.

JROTC Rifle Team Practice

There will be no JROTC Rifle Team practice this week or next Monday. Practices will resume on Thursday, March 8th.

National FFA Week

National FFA Week is this week February 20th-February 23rd!

The local YMCA has gently used prom dresses and men's dress shirts for anyone in need of prom attire.The dresses and shirts will be set up at the YMCA from now until prom. Go now for the best selection!

Beta Club T-Shirts

Any student or teacher wanting to purchase a Beta Club t-shirt can do so in Mrs. Hazlett's room (room 210). The cost of the t-shirts are $15 and all money and order forms are due by Monday, February 26th. The Beta Club would love for as many students and teachers to buy a t-shirt as possible!

Softball Tryouts

Softball tryouts will be this Thursday and Friday, the 15th and 16th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Straub.

FCCLA State Leadership Conference

Any FCCLA member wanting to attend the State Leadership Conference must have their deposit paid by Wednesday, February 14th.

The envirothon team will meet afterschool on Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m.

Football Team Super Bowl Party

The football team will be having a Super Bowl party on Sunday. It will be at 4 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club. Players should RSVP to Coach Thomas of Coach Ravencraft as soon as possible.

2018-19 Scheduling

Students will meet in Homeroom on Friday, February 2nd to start scheduling for the 2018-19 school year.

3rd Nine Weeks

The 3rd Nine Weeks will end on Friday, March 2nd. Report Cards for the 3rd Nine Weeks will be sent out on Thursday, March 8th.

AP Exams

Students wanting to sign up to take an AP Exam can sign up in the office. The cost of one exam is $31.

Teen Court

Tonight is the first training for those interested in Teen Court. It will be from 5:30-7:00 tonight at the Mason County Justice Center.

Prom Committee

For anyone interested in Prom Committee, there will be a short meeting after school this Thursday, January 25th, from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. to start planning.

FCCLA Members

FCCLA members should wear their black FCCLA shirts this Friday, January 27th.

School-to-Work Students

School-to-Work students can pick up their report cards in the office at the High School.

Written and Driving Road Tests

No written or road drivers tests will be given on Thursday, January 11th, 2018.

Baseball Preseason Practice

Baseball Preseason Practice will start tomorrow, Thursday, January 4th, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the STEAM building. Everyone must have an updated athletic physical on file before you practice. See Coach Posey with any questions.

Concert Band

The concert for the high school band, originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 12th, has been postponed until Thursday, December 14th. The concert is still set to begin at 7 o'clock pm.

BETA Club Convention Payment

The 3rd payment for those students going to the BETA Club Convention is due this Friday, December 15th.

Drug Testing Seminars

The last two drug testing seminars will be this Monday, December 11th and Tuesday, December 12. They will be from 3:05 to 4:15 in the high school library.

School Pictures

As of Wednesday, December 6th, teachers should have their homeroom student's pictures. Students are to go to homeroom before/after school, or between classes to pick them up. Teachers should send any unclaimed pictures to the office no later than Friday, December 15th.

Mrs. Prater's Homeroom

Mrs. Prater's homeroom students will be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army for their community service project, this Friday from 4 to 6 at JCPenny. Mrs. Prater's homeroom students, please make arrangements to participate and see Mrs. Prater with any questions. 

In House Picture Retake Day

There will be a picture retake day on Friday, December 15 from 3:00 to 6:30 pm for freshman, sophomores, or juniors wishing to get their pictures taken who haven't done so. The address to go to in order to do this is 2902 Foltz, Dr. Edgewood, KY 41017.

MCHS Baseball Team Pancake Breakfast at Applebees

The MCHS and MCMS Baseball teams are having a pancake breakfast at Applebee's on Saturday, December 9 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.  Come out and support our baseball teams.  You can purchase a ticket from any high school or middle school player. 

Senior Signature Shirt

Seniors who have not yet signed the Senior Signature Shirt need to see Mrs. Margie Appelmanin Room 103. Orders for Senior Signature Shirts are due Friday, December 1st.

Tux and Drapes

Any seniors who haven't had their tux and drapes pictures, please do so this Friday, December 1st.

Drug Testing Seminar

There will be another Drug Testing Seminar at 3:15 PM in the library on Wednesday, November 29.  If you are in a club or a sport or drive to school, you must attend one seminar.  Sign up sheets are in the office.  Space is limited to the first 70 students that sign up.

Dance Team Practice

There will dance team practice on Tuesday, November 28th, and Wednesday, November 29th at Steam from 3:30 to 5:00. 

BETA Club Convention Payment

All students attending the BETA Club convention in January need to make their second payment by Friday, December 1st.

A University of Louisville representative will be here on Friday, Nov. 3, to speak to students interested in the University of Louisville.  This will take place in the Rewards Room at 10:00 am.

There will be a TSA amd Robotics Team meeting today, Wednesday, August 30th, after school at STEAM from 3:30-4:30. 

Anyone interested in participating in either organization should make plans to attend.

Summer School

Summer School Registration will be Friday May 19 from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the high school library. If you have failed a Math, English, Science, Social Studies or Health class it is highly recommended that you attend summer school to recover those credits. If you do not they will be required to be made up the next school year. Summer School will begin Monday May 22. Times and days are Monday thru Thursday 8-2 each day. Students must provide their own transportation.

Ag Department Mum Orders

The Ag Department has mums this year in a variety of colors and multi color pots.  They will be selling them for 12 dollars per pot or 2 for 20.  They will be open during normal school hours and on Saturday, Nov. 30.  Visit the greenhouse if interested.  

Torch Prep

Torch Prep Baseline testing will be at STEAM on November 30.  

Balfour

Balfour will be in the cafeteria during lunch shifts on December 8th.

Spirit Gear

Royals Spirit Gear orders are now being taken.  You can order your spirit gear by obtaining a form office or by clicking below to download the form.  You can also order Spirit Gear at future home basketball games or forward your order to Mary Perkins at MCMS.  

Football Workouts

Football workouts will be at 3:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Basketball and winter track athletes are excused.

Picture Money

Picture money for all students is due by September 16.  Money should be turned in to the office.

Beta Club Dues

Beta club dues are to be paid to Ms. Hazlett in room 210 by Friday, Sept 22. $15 dues are for new members and $3 dues are for current members. Drug testing forms are due in with your payment unless you already have one on file.

Track Practice

The first practice for anyone interested in Indoor Track will be on Tuesday, December 5th, at 3:45 at Steam. You must have an up-to-date sports physical in order to participate.

The date has been set for the 2018 Jr./Sr. Prom for April 28, 2018.  Save the date!!!

Homecoming Powder Puff Football

Any junior or senior gir who wants to play in the homecoming powder puff football game needs to sign up in the front office. The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 22.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Homecoming Dance

The 2017 Homecoming Dance will be on Friday, September 29, 2017.  

Football Banquet

The football banquet will be held Sunday, December 10th in the MCHS cafeteria at 3:30 pm. Player's and coach's meals will be paid for, but families need to RSVP for their meals. A meal cost for a family is $10.75, and please include players in the RSVP number. You will be able to pay at the door, and RSVPs need to be done through text or email by December 3rd. If you don't RSVP, no meal will be provided though you can still attend.

Alive at 25 Driver Prep Class

The Alive at 25 Driver Prep Class will be in the MCHS Library, at 3:30 p.m. on January 23, 2018. In order to take this class, you must already have a permit. This class is required in order to get a liscese and depending on your insurance carrier, could help reduce your insurance rates.

MCHS Grandparents Day

MCHS Grandparents Day is on Oct. 4, 2017.  All interested students should invite their grandparents to lunch.  

GSP

Juniors interested in applying for GSP who did not attend the information meeting, please see Mrs. Stewart. Applications are due November 17.

Blood-Drive Sign-UpsĀ 

HOSA is hosting their second blood drive this year on December 5th! We had 24 total donations last time which was above average from the year before. We are pushing for a total of 81 for the school year, which means we need 57 more  in order to award a $750 scholarship to a senior. Please help us out by giving the gift of life this season. 

Let Ms. Wolford know when you are able to donate and she will put you down on the sign-up list! (They start at 9 am and run through 1:45 in the high school gym foyer).

MCTC ACT Test Prep Dates

Painting Party that Benefits MCHS Art Club

There will be a holiday family painting party on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.  Proceeds go to the Mason County High School Art Club.

Attendance Reminders

In order to be eligible to participate in graduation ceremonies, students cannot have nine or more unexcused absences. Tardies to school count against them.   To be eligible to attend PROM, a student cannot have more than 6 unexcused absences.  

MCHS National Honor Society Application

To be considered for NHS you must have successfully completed or are currently taking a minimum of 6 honors or Advanced Placement courses (not college or dual credit) and maintain a GPA of 3.7 or better.

College Fair

All seniors will be attending the college fair in the Fieldhouse on Sept. 20, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and juniors will attend from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Dance Team Tryouts

Any student interested in trying out for the dance team should sign up in the front office.

ASVAB Exam

All juniors and seniors who signed up to take the ASVAB test will be testing at Steam on Sept. 19 from 8:00 am until noon.  We will load buses from the top lot around 8:00 am.

MCTC Dual Credit Sign-in Sheets

Students taking classes at MCTC need to sign the sign-in sheet at MCTC. There are now 2 locations for the sheets. One on a clipboard outside Emily Thurman's Office (Room 215A) and one is at the welcome desk in the tech building.
